Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup sweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • teaspoon cinnamon

Method

  1. Before You Begin
  2. Preheat and prepare your cookware as needed. Cooking times and results may vary depending on your equipment and ingredients.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  4. Mix Dough
  5. Mix oats, applesauce, peanut butter, and cinnamon until dough looks thick and evenly coated.
  6. Shape
  7. Form 12 cookies and gently flatten into thick rounds.
  8. Bake
  9. Bake 10–12 minutes, or until edges appear set and lightly golden.
  10. Cool
  11. Cool on the baking sheet for 15 minutes, or until cookies feel firm enough to lift.
  12. Cooking Notes
  13. Use old-fashioned oats for the best chewy texture; quick oats will make the cookies softer.
  14. Keep the cookies thick when shaping, as they do not spread much during baking.
  15. Bake until the edges look set and lightly golden and the centers appear soft but no longer wet.
  16. Cookies will firm up as they cool, so avoid overbaking.
  17. If the dough feels too soft, stir in 1–2 tablespoons of oats before baking.
  18. Cooking times may vary depending on oven performance and ingredient moisture.
