  • 15 fresh basil leaves, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 4 garlic cloves, freshly crushed
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Before You Begin
  2. Wash and dry herbs completely. Use freshly peeled garlic. Soften butter at room temperature for no more than 1 hour. Cooking and preparation results may vary depending on equipment.
  3. Add basil leaves, crushed garlic, and black pepper to a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped.
  4. Add the softened butter and pulse briefly until evenly combined. Avoid over-processing.
  5. Transfer to an airtight container or shape into a log using plastic wrap.
  6. Refrigerate until firm before using. Use clean utensils when serving.

Notes

    • Keep butter chilled except for brief softening to maintain food safety and texture.
    • Use clean utensils when mixing and serving to avoid contamination.
    • Refrigerate within 2 hours of preparation in an airtight container.
    • Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze up to 2–3 months.
    • If frozen, thaw in the refrigerator before using for best consistency.
    • Soften briefly before serving if needed, checking frequently to prevent melting.
    • Discard if odor, color, or texture changes.
