Before You Begin
Prepare your ingredients and mixing bowl as needed. Chill time and results may vary depending on your refrigerator and ingredients. Use fully thawed whipped topping for best texture.
Mix Base
Place pudding mix and undrained pineapple in a large bowl. Stir until mixture is fully combined and begins to thicken slightly, about 1–2 minutes.
Add Mix-Ins
Stir in marshmallows and pecans if using until evenly distributed.
Fold Topping
Gently fold in whipped topping using broad strokes until mixture is light, fluffy, and uniform. Do not overmix.
Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until salad is thick, fluffy, and fully set.
Serve
Stir gently before serving and portion into bowls or cups. Serve chilled.
