Method
- Before You Begin
- Preheat and prepare your cookware as needed. Cooking times and results may vary depending on your equipment and ingredients.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions until flexible enough to roll. Drain and lay flat on a clean towel to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, combine ricotta, egg, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce across the bottom of a baking dish to prevent sticking and promote even heating.
- Lay one noodle flat and spread cheese mixture evenly across it. Add optional cooked meat or vegetables if using. Roll gently and place seam-side down in dish. Repeat.
- Spoon remaining marinara over rolls and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
- Cover dish with foil and cover dish with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 30–40 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and the roll ups are heated through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Uncover briefly near the end so cheese melts evenly and lightly browns.
- Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving so filling sets and portions hold together.
