Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef, lean preferred
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Cooked rice for serving (optional)

Method

  1. Before You Begin
  2. Preheat and prepare your cookware as needed. Cooking times and results may vary depending on your equipment and ingredients.
  3. Make the Sauce
  4. In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until completely smooth. Set aside.
  5. Cook the Ground Beef
  6. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart, until fully cooked and no pink remains. Drain excess fat carefully.
  7. Add Garlic
  8. Stir in garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent browning.
  9. Add Broccoli and Sauce
  10. Add broccoli florets to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the beef and broccoli.
  11. Simmer
  12. Cover and cook for 4–6 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp and the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef and broccoli.
  13. Finish
  14. Remove the lid, drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry, and stir until evenly coated.
  15. Serve
  16. Serve warm, alone or over cooked rice.
