Ingredients
  

  • 200 g pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream or plant-based cream
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Before You Begin:
  2. Preheat and prepare your cookware as needed. Cooking times and results may vary depending on your equipment and ingredients.
  3. Cook the Pasta
  4. Bring a pot of well-salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until tender but still slightly firm to the bite according to package directions. Reserve about ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
  5. Cook the Aromatics
  6. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened and translucent. Stir in garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  7. Simmer Tomatoes
  8. Add chopped tomatoes and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  9. Add Cream
  10. Reduce heat slightly and stir in cream. Simmer gently until the sauce becomes smooth and lightly thickened.
  11. Combine
  12. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to loosen the sauce.
  13. Finish
  14. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in Parmesan if using. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.
