Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ¾ cup warm whole milk (100–110°F / 38–43°C)
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • cups bread flour (or all-purpose)
  • Filling
  • cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup chopped pepperoni
  • Topping
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup chopped pepperoni
  • Garlic Butter
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

Method

  1. Before You Begin
  2. Preheat and prepare your cookware as needed. Cooking times and results may vary depending on your equipment and ingredients.
  3. Mix yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Rest 5–10 minutes until lightly foamy.
  4. Add butter, egg, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and flour. Knead about 5 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover and let rise 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
  6. Divide dough into 20–24 portions. Flatten each piece, add mozzarella and pepperoni, and seal tightly into balls.
  7. Arrange in a greased skillet or baking pan. Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (177°C) for 20 minutes. Add topping cheese and pepperoni, tent loosely with foil, and bake 12–15 minutes more until tops are golden brown, centers are cooked through, and internal temperature reaches 190–200°F (88–93°C).
  9. Brush with garlic butter and rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Seal rolls tightly so filling stays contained and cooks evenly.
  • Use milk no hotter than 110°F (43°C) to keep yeast active and safe.
  • Bake until rolls reach an internal temperature of 190–200°F (88–93°C).
  • Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and store in an airtight container.
  • Reheat portions until hot throughout before serving.
  • Discard if rolls develop unusual odor, texture, or appearance.
